01/10 Solar farm near the River Hamble

A planning application has been made to build a very large (3.266Mw) Solar Farm on land to the North of the National Air Traffic Services centre in Swanwick.

This is situated between the River Hamble and the SSSI that borders it to the Northwest and the Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve to the Southeast.

The Solar Farm will consist of 6048 panels each 4.5M square situated on two  countryside fields that are currently used for agricultural purposes as grassland.
